These people are cramazing. What did they do with their time off today? Made this amazing sign. Shark Week at Bonneville!
End of the World Ride & Last Party on Earth
Let me tell you what… planning a party all by yourself is absolutely crazy. But when better to lose your mind than right before the supposed end of the world? Thanks for that, Mayans.
More photos and fun stuff behind the cut below.
It was definitely a good night. Unfortunately despite charging the TDM, jumping and bumping it… the thing just would not start. The battery was way too dead. So basically I had to appoint Brianna Robbins the End of the World Ride leader. About 30 bikes took off from See See Motorcycles & Coffee around 8:40p. You can check out Cody Kahler’s GoPro helmet footage of the ride here. They arrived at MotoFactory in force, a pleasure to see toward the end of December in Portland.
Most often I could be found in the front room at the beer and swag station. We had four different types of Widmer… yeah, that’s right. It wasn’t shitty beer.
Every time I went into the back to check in on things… the crowd grew! It was quite packed, but not in an unpleasant way.
The above photo is from William Keller-Scholz… I finally managed to take photos when it died down a bit.
In the image below you can see Anthony Mautemp’s photography in a row on the wall, along with a bunch of MotoFactory bikes. At the end of the motorcycles you can see Saxon Smith crouched over talking to Noah Dear (a new rider and close friend of mine), most likely imparting indispensable motorcycle wisdom upon him. Saxon was a pillar of Portland’s motorcycling community as an avid racer and year-round rider. He was hit on his motorcycle on Christmas Eve and was lost before emergency responders could get to the scene. Saxon, you will be missed sir! Thank you for the good times. <3
Sorry for the sad moment, but I had to commemorate his visit to the party. Given the circumstances, I was very happy he had stopped by.
Lots of people rode, a table in the center of the room became a gear spot.
William Keller-Scholz brought his daily rider in for the apocalypse motorcycle show, I felt it appropriate with his ammo can outfit and fog light. I would ride the hell out of this thing!
Apocalypse party this way!
We had quite the line up.
More bikes arrive!
The lovely Amanda Sundvor from Chrome Industries arrived with the amazing bag they made for the event. Complete with a made in Portland patch, Lara Kessler custom made that gorgeous Mayan face patch on the front! It was made out of their limited edition wax canvas, and this was the first place prize for the winner of the Apocalypse costume contest!
Once I added that to the table… the prize tower was complete! The very tip top helmet with the gorgeous Mayan face was custom painted as the trophy for the first place winner as well.
Prizes included my Gas Mask Bandanas, the awesome Biltwell 3/4 helmets custom painted by Jeff Wolf, Biltwell t-shirts and gloves, an Icon Alliance silver helmet in medium (thanks to See See Coffee & Motorcycles and Icon), t-shirts from Bridge City Cycles, Ever True Tattoo, plus hats and goggles from Jeff Yarrington of Saint Motor Company…
I chose MotoFactory for the party because they have a really great space, plus tons of cool stuff all over the shop.
Bryan Scott, pinstriper, painted this gas mask piece.
And Jeff Wolf’s custom helmets.
Here’s a shot of Bryan and Wolf, the pinstripers.
All good parties must have smoking space and a fire. Chhhheck!
Tyler Snider, his lady, and his beautiful chopper he built just in time for the show.
I started the raffle/contest a little bit after 11p… the apocalypse contest first. Ramona won (audience voted by cheering) and was so stoked for her prizes… she could hardly believe it!
Nick won the Alliance helmet, I tried playing keep away but I couldn’t resist that face.
The very last raffle item was the Biltwell custom biohazard helmet painted by Jeff Wolf. You can tell Troy was a bit excited to win it! He and I had been talking outside… he literally said, “I want to win the bubble visor helmet.” it seems as though he willed it to happen.
Emily George got her hands on Kyle Yarrington’s skate deck sharpie drawing… she was so proud! You can almost see her glowing.
Here’s the vintage 1949 BSA that Robert Schuff let us borrow with Wolf’s helmets in the background. His dad was the very first owner, and it is now outfitted with a sportster tank.
Around 2am, as I was winding down and getting ready to take off to find food… they busted out the minimoto and guitars.
I’d like to say thanks to these two… Jeff Wolf and Nadia Kergaye for helping me all day long getting this party ready.
After that, we took off for hot dogs on Hawthorne… this lovely motolady (we were all matchy!) and her gentleman John joined us all for food.
And that’s a wrap.
