Hey, I love your blog, but I was wondering if you could give me a bit of advice, I’m an extreme novice and going in to get my first bike I’m a bit overwhelmed with the amount of choses lol, what bike would you recommend for a beginner like me? to be specific I’m looking for touring bike, thanks :)

What is your budget? Are you looking for a dual sport style touring bike or something more like a big beast with cup holders and radios and all the frills? 

The answer really depends on budget. Keep in mind that older bikes (like my Maxim) are usually a good starter bike but may or may not be reliable for long rides (as mine has proven). Having something older, cheap, and mechanically sound (for the most part) can be a good start if you don’t mind working on it yourself.
