Better Late Than Never: Isle of Vashon 2012
When I attended the Isle of Vashon VME vintage motorcycle rally last year (previous mini photo and video review here), I took an insane amount of photos. When I got off the ferry and parked my bike, I ran around like a little kid in a candy store. It took me a long time to get through the photos, no excuses… I finally did it and they’re definitely still worth sharing.
There was an amazing collection of motorcycles, as there is every year.
Imagine a place where every car turns into a motorcycle, and vice versa. There’s ten motorbikes to every car… it’s amazing. You all pile onto the ferry in Bremerton, or Tacoma… and head on over to Vashon Island.
Lovely views, and a short ride to the island.
You ride into town from the ferry and find rows and rows of beautiful bikes to gaze upon.
Old solex moped!
Vintage Ducati beauty with classic wing logo. Red and gold!
Kenny Roberts livery.
Ducati beauty.
Vintage BMWs.
A custom… don’t know what to call it. And that’s precisely what makes it so great.
BMW with LOTS of lights.
Moto Guzzi!
Watching people ride around was extremely fun at times.
Lady riders abound!
Harley Davidson? Don’t mess with this bike.
More vintage Ducati beauty.
BSA and more.
We went and met some friends who had stayed on the island the night before and rode back into town mob style.
Jada gearing up.
Rockers NW at all lined up.
A couple on great custom bikes.
This 1925 Sunbeam motorcycle caught my eye- I literally chased him down the street and asked if I could take his photo.
The bike is in extraordinary condition.
Old motorcycles had such amazing functionality.
Time period correct riding gear takes it up a peg or two, kudos to you sir.
Classic BSA.
