Video, photo gallery, and party breakdown from the third annual Women’s Motorcycle Show is here!
The Woman Behind the Women’s Moto Exhibit
My friends, I have featured Lanakila MacNaughton’s photography from her project the Women’s Moto Exhibit many many times, but this time you get to see the woman behind the lens. This look behind the scenes literally gave me goosebumps- Austin Will perfectly captured the essence of art, artist, and subjects. I got chills and they’re multiplyin’!
“I’m shooting medium format… film on Hassleblad. I’m manually focusing on a moving at 40 or 50 miles an hour.”
For those of you who haven’t fiddled with this style photography (or even much at all for that matter) you see everything in the frame BACKWARDS, and the focal plane is very fine and exact. This woman is a goddess with a camera. See more stills and watch the amazing video, full of strong, independent, and beautiful motorcycling women.
Have you ever gotten motion sickness trying to read your phone in the car or something similar? Imagine how much worse it would be looking through the lens of a Hassleblad.
“I think the true moment is when she’s riding and the wind is flowing and you’re in a beautiful location. And there’s a split moment where you catch it, or you don’t catch it.” Taking the easy way out isn’t her style, a point clearly proven by her quest for the perfect surroundings and photographic mood.
Go take a look at the first set and second set of photographs from when Lana was in front of MY lens, and make sure you watch the video below. Then head over to womensmotoexhibit.com.
