SFRC Alley Sweeper Urban Enduro Mini-Review

I don’t have enough time to chop up the GoPro video right now, so here is a light review of the 2013 Sang-Froid Riding Club Alley Sweeper Urban Enduro today (some people are still out doing it).

My tally on the poor borrowed XS400 (below)… one close call, two low sides, a bunch of mud, broken GoPro mount (sorry and thanks Joe), broken headlight bucket, tweaked front end and turn signal. Oh and a sweet bruise.

At the meeting spot on Tillamook. I’m very happy for obvious reasons, and also because Joe from Icon brought me his GoPro to use.

Duct taped into place, with a zip tie for good measure. I literally yelled into the crowd, “Alright bikers, who’s got duct tape and zip ties?” A guy less than five feet from me came to the rescue. Awesome.

After sweeping some alleys, I dumped it. It laid down on my leg, hulk strength allowed me to push it off. It was fun!

Flooded bike, but good overall.

I waited a few minutes before trying to kickstart it… no go. Finally a small group came by and helped, to no avail. Bump start it is! Thanks guys!

They told me to follow them, so I did. Well, it didn’t last long before another birm of grass got the best of me and I flung myself to the ground. Picking it up was much more difficult this time, and I tweaked the front end a bit. Headlight still works! Woot.

I drove it carefully to the meeting point for lunch on 52nd and Foster where I was asked about the mud by LOTS of people. Mostly high fives were given.

So many bikes, so much mud!

Joe has a similar experience on his Bonneville, may have tweaked the front end a bit.

Home at last and inspecting damage. Gnarly bruise commencing in 3… 2…

More later. Including video.

And PS… I had SO MUCH FUN!!
