Mooneyes 2014
A couple weekends ago, the very next morning after I moved out of San Diego, we woke up at the buttcrack of dawn (seriously, we hit the road at 3am) for Mooneyes 2014 at the Irwindale Speedway. Arriving at about 5am, the event said sold out and we had hours before sunrise. Tons of vehicles trickled in over the course of the day… with some really exceptional motorcycles peppered throughout. The only running 1912 Pierce Arrow motorbike in the world, an amazing engraved Trike, modified for a veteran missing a leg… the… Continue Reading »
The Handbuilt Motorcycle Show 2014
Pandora and I were unable to make it to the Handbuilt Motorcycle Show in Austin, Texas on April 11th and 12th this year. The event is snuggled up to MotoGP and features the Wall of Death, a full bar, and works of Shinya Kimura, Walt Siegl, Revival Cycles, Boyle Custom Moto, and one of my favorite motoladies Sofi Tsingos plus a ton of other talented folks. Sofi and Brandon LaJoie of GT Moto (website) helped out with some awesome photos and words on the event. “First, I would like to say how mind… Continue Reading »

Sunday Mass Hosted by ESMB
After the shoot with Shaik Ridzwan, I finally made it to a Sunday Mass event at Deus ex Machina in Venice Beach. This time hosted by East Side Moto Babes and taking place after the big Venice Vintage swap meet (website) and VVMC ride, the parking lot was completely packed. Sunday Mass was literally massive. Bikes of every style, riders of every experience level. So much fun was had! Above photo from Deus’ instagram. Julian Heppekausen’s super loud pea shooter wearin’ BSA- my friend Karissa was standing right behind this when he… Continue Reading »
Was really cool to see a brand spankin’ new 2014 2013 Honda CB1100 (and get to sit on it and rev the engine a lil) today. It’s pretty cool as is, too. The 535lbs felt somewhat low centered making it not overly heavy, and had good height. Again, I’m stoked to see manufacturers bringing retro/classic motorcycles back into the mix. The folks at Cerbs are chopping it up for a customer who’s going to send it overseas where they have more strict on what bikes you can bring in. The benefit of… Continue Reading »
