Storm on the Salt Flats
My absolute favorite shot from the entire trip… Mark Bjorklund taking off for his return run on the short international track. Green flag in the background and all. He’s on the Sodium Distortion Ducati S4Rs 1000cc A-AG class salt racer by Super Rat from Bellingham, WA. (Click the link for more a closer look at the bike on MotoCorsa’s website.) He knocked out a record that stood since 1975 at 166.3mph (267.6kph).
Paul d’Orléans (of the Vintagent blog) took his old Chamonix camera to the Bonneville Salt Flats. Wet plate motorcycle photography on a dry lake bed. How cool! This photo of Ana Llorente (racer and East Side Moto Babe) on her 175cc Motobecane is definitely my favorite.
