Clara Wagner is often lauded as the first woman to race a motorcycle—or at least the first documented woman to do so, as captured by many newspapers in 1910. But is she?
This spherical wheeled motorcycle was posted to Gizmodo with the comment-
Besides an eco-friendly electric drivetrain, the bike’s spherical drive system is promised to be safer than a traditional motorcycle since the front wheel can’t suddenly turn sideways and jackknife, leading to a crash. And those giant spherical wheels — made from carbon fibre and fibreglass covered in industrial rubber — make maneuvering and parking an absolute breeze since the bike can move sideways just as easily as it can move forwards and back.
I can’t help but wonder though, if being able to careen sideways toward objects is any better even if you’re rolling fluidly. Maybe I should ride it to find out.
