Eight decades of rumbling engines, two-wheel travel, exhaust smoke, and total badassery. Gloria Tramontin Struck has been blazing trails in the world of motorcycles since 1940 as one of the original members of the Motor Maids.
Ueda Helmet Sculptures
Shuhei Ueda, located in Japan, is doing some very interesting things in the way of helmet art under the name Ueda Helmets including iconic race replicas.
Instead of painting helmets that are already manufactured, he’s sculpting helmets with human features in/on them.
Shuhei was born in 1980 in Hiroshima, Japan. He aquired his M.F.A. at Osaka University of Arts in 2005. Below he is modeling his Kenny Roberts themed helmet.
Below we have the Suzuka ‘91 display from the Japanese 500cc WGP race including sort-of-replicas of first place rider Kevin Schwantz’s helmet, second place Michael Doohan, and third place Wayne Rainey.
The detail in these sculptures, made of FRP, Polyurethane foam, Basalt, plywood board and more is very impressive and striking, to say the least.
His work doesn’t just include iconic race replicas, either. Here is a piece he calls “The Blacksmith” (30x28x36cm).
