If you’re in the design industry you’ve heard the term ‘photoshop tennis’. It’s a sort of game between bored graphic artists that starts with some sort of blank canvas and perhaps a theme. This piece was a collaboration between Maike Plenzke and Frederik Jurk, I suppose a sort of illustrator tennis. Lana’s work is really special- she uses an old medium format camera (that’s right, it’s film) to capture real women who ride in essence. A pair of smokin’ dames on their motorbikes in Britain, 1930s. Photographs of women motorcyclists from this time period always fascinate me; society norms changing quickly through the early 1900s allowed women to exercise and enjoy some new freedoms.
