Two Wheel Themed Art by BMD Design
You’ve probably seen work by BMD somewhere online already and it didn’t even register- he’s done work for Nike, Quicksilver, Fuel Motorcycles and more. BMD stands for “Bella Matribus Detestas” which is Latin and translates to “War, the horror of mothers.” His art is refined yet rough, simple but robust… managing to capture the message and mood of an event or product within a graphic.
His work adorns helmets, wooden planks, doors, walls, and so much more.
“Punish your machine” is one of my personal favorites, it’s classic, elegant, and also violent.
Sketches from a helmet project called “Neither God nor Master”, the above image says “Et lux in tenebris lucet” which is latin for, “And light shines in the darkness”.
“A sheep on arrival, a lion upon release” in the style of old school etching.
“Lawless darkthoughts- neither god nor master.”
Nothing like melding genres and time periods together!
The hand drawn aesthetic is as unique as each pen stroke.
His enthusiasm for motorized vehicles is easily apparent through his work.
His excellence in typography was utilized in the Fuel Motorcycles logo and branding efforts.
Turning products into Iconic symbols almost instantly, via the flick of a pen like the Barstow goggles.
