Big fan of The Vintagent, rare old motorcycle photos combined with history lessons we probably wouldn’t hear of otherwise. This is a 1903 twin-cylinder Buchet, from the Age of Monsters…built for track racing in those early days when there was ‘no replacement for displacement’…this engine was probably 2976cc, and Maurice Fournier rode it to 75mph over the flying kilo that year. Buchet invented the vertical twin! Imagine riding this beast, stretched out directly over a hot engine; my guess is he didn’t ride it long! Visit the Vintagent blog. Went to a few antique and vintage shops today in Ventura… awesome stores and a couple scores. Rotations was by far my favorite, with the 50cc Indian minibike, vintage motorcycle stuff sprinkled throughout a bunch of other wares including old street signage and antique photos of women and motorcycles. I snagged an old pair of leather motorcycle pants there, and the owl business card holder at Time Bomb. Good stuff.

Famous and talented painter Georgia O’Keefe hitching a ride on her land, Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM with Maurice Grosser on his 1938 Harley Davidson Knucklehead. We had to create a large display board of our work and talk about it as if we were the person we were portraying. My choice? Georgia… Continue Reading »

Sammy Miller, world renowned motorcycle road racing and trials rider, kicking some ass on a crazy cliff. While camera angles can be tricky, from his body position on the bike we can clearly tell it’s a challenging/steep grade hill. Miller was born in Belfast, Ireland in 1933 and went on to win over 1300 trials races and many other road races. His victories were mostly on Ariel motorcycles, but later he became the lead developer at Bultaco on their ‘mdern’ two stoke motorcycles. [ more motorcycle history ]
