You’ve probably seen work by BMD somewhere online already and it didn’t even register- he’s done work for Nike, Quicksilver, Fuel Motorcycles and more. BMD stands for “Bella Matribus Detestas” which is Latin and translates to “War, the horror of mothers.” His art is refined yet rough, simple but robust… managing to capture the message and mood of an event or product within a graphic. If you’re in the design industry you’ve heard the term ‘photoshop tennis’. It’s a sort of game between bored graphic artists that starts with some sort of blank canvas and perhaps a theme. This piece was a collaboration between Maike Plenzke and Frederik Jurk, I suppose a sort of illustrator tennis.
