Last week’s post about the Ducati 1199 café racer custom featured photographs snapped outside the Netherlands residing MotoPuro shop. This weekend I received a link to their official photos and press release, which gave me some more insight and background into this build. After giving Pandora a makeover I have newfound understand for all motorcycle builds, even the ratty ones with duct tape and zip ties in place of metal bracketry and hose clamps. BMW celebrated it’s 90th anniversary of making motorcycles, releasing this classic sporty beauty called the Concept Ninety. It’s said to have been partially inspired by the 40 year old R90 design, apparent in the tank and orange paint job. Will other companies start making their own versions of retro motorcycles, modernized and done right similar to the Sport Classic line from Ducati? One can only hope! Excited for the 1199?
Are you excited for the 2012 Ducati 1199? I sure am. Extended swing arm, new engine positioning, no more trellis frame- these are just a few of the changes Ducati is throwin’ down this time around. Ducatisti purist’s might get their undies in a bunch at the prospective changes, but I whole heartedly believe this bike is going to be a doozy. I think the purists will be converted.
