Stormie Ray pullin’ her dirtbike out of the muddy trenches at Woodland Bottoms in Washinton. Ruts can be deceiving in the rainy climate of the Pacific Northwest– you’re all “I got this” then it’s more like “holy crap where’d my wheel go?”

Learning the Dirt at the Touratech ADV Moto Rally
When you get a random phone call from the Marketing Manager at Touratech inviting you to attend their 2013 Adventure Motorcycle Rally, you get sort of excited. Then it moves to a sort of horror when you realize you have to tell them you’ve only ridden on a dirt a small amount, and on bikes either unsuited for the terrain, or much smaller than touring and adventure motorcycles. Fortunately for me, one of the reasons they got in touch was because of my enthusiasm for adventure riding but my lack of experience… Continue Reading »
Another Sociopath Behind the Wheel…
Can anyone identify this man? Perhaps one of you works with him somewhere in the Seattle/Tri-Cities area… and can look him dead in the face and remind him that motorcyclists are people too? And that what he did was not only life threatening, but absolutely sociopathic? The definition of a sociopath is, “a person with a psychopathic personality whose behavior is antisocial, often criminal, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience” (from Dicationary.com). Ten of my favorite photos from last weekend’s 2013 Touratech Adventure Motorcycle Rally. While I gather all the other photos from the event and photographers, I wanted to share some of the highlights for me. From top to bottom, left to right. (1) Chris and I drove the suburban up through Seattle and East into Plain, unloaded his rented KTM, (2) got the low down on the Husky and (3) went for a ride. I couldn’t help but grin when we got back into camp. (4) Karissa uses the mini bike to… Continue Reading »
Some select photos from the 2013 Touratech Adventure Motorcycle Rally this weekend in Plain, WA (Wenatchee County). It was a real treat to really ride off road for the first time, and on a capable bike such as the Husqvarna 650 Terra. Furthermore… how fortunate I was to have photographers on one of our rides to get these shots! (Photos 1,2,4 by Carl Parker of Adventure Motorcycle Magazine, photo 3 by Nathan Slabaugh.) Many more photos (and a full article) from the rally soon!
Another moto advertisement up for best of the year… “The 2000 Yamaha Razz. Can’t handle it? Well, close your browser, head over to a used car lot and buy yourself a minivan. Give the keys to little Timmy and let him drive himself to soccer practice. You don’t belong at the helm of a vehicle.” [VIEW FULL SIZE] Check out the ad on the seattle.craigslist.com while it’s still there » [ more nominees for ‘best ad of the year’ ]
