Bessie Stringfield fought for civil rights and equality by doing what she loved despite the struggles and danger that came with riding motorcycles.
Meandering through instagram tags and keywords I came across this photo of Marissa Cianciulli which I found particularly striking. She emailed it to me with some details about herself. It’s always nice to include some sort of background with photos of these ladies- to me it gives you a better understanding of the humans inside the helmets, the people riding around you.
Marissa rides her 1982 Harley Davidson Ironhead around Philadelphia, PA. You might otherwise see her driving her 72’ Chevy pickup. She’s a graphic designer, and part of a pretty cool riding club called the Greasy Beavers MC (ladies only). Their clubhouse is called ‘The Beaver Hole’, naturally. Check out the blog here.
