Big fan of The Vintagent, rare old motorcycle photos combined with history lessons we probably wouldn’t hear of otherwise. This is a 1903 twin-cylinder Buchet, from the Age of Monsters…built for track racing in those early days when there was ‘no replacement for displacement’…this engine was probably 2976cc, and Maurice Fournier rode it to 75mph over the flying kilo that year. Went to a few antique and vintage shops today in Ventura… awesome stores and a couple scores. Rotations was by far my favorite, with the 50cc Indian minibike, vintage motorcycle stuff sprinkled throughout a bunch of other wares including old street signage and antique photos of women and motorcycles. I snagged an old pair of leather motorcycle pants there, and the owl business card holder at Time Bomb. Good stuff.
Today I went up to San Onofre and San Clemente to visit my friend Justin who runs the Peanut Butter Coast blog. He’s down from Seattle with his friend Chris on a surfing adventure road trip dubbed ‘The Peelgrimage’. After food, he showed me a cool motorcycle shop he had stumbled upon, Montomery Motorcycles. San Clemente, with a small population of some 60k people, caught me off guard with the super cool vintage motorcycle shop.
