Solar Freakin’ Roadways!
Can you imagine a road system that lights up, saves money, warns you of debris ahead, melts snow and ice, pays for our electricity and cuts greenhouse gasses by up to 75%? It could be possible with these roadways made of hexagonal weight-sensitive solar panels. You could be riding through the canyons, and a programmed DEBRIS / SLOW warning could light up to let you now there’s a boulder that fell in the road! CAN YOU IMAGINE?! That could then send a message to officials and they could be sent out to… Continue Reading »
The Icon Airframe Statistic Helmet
Upon one of visits to Icon’s HQ in Portland, I saw a very cool Airframe Construct with impact statistics labeled on different areas of the helmet. Today, the Icon Airframe Statistic helmet is available to anyone who wants to express (without words) why they choose to wear a full face. Honestly, I’d just love to have one on display in the shop. Oh dear. As Motorcycle USA put it, these ‘Glassholes’ are a new road hazard… and they’re right. Can’t help but laugh at the caption they added with this photo, “In this photo from Cecilia Abadie’s public Google+ profile… Continue Reading »
Motorcyclist Struck by Lightning on I5
Be careful out there, guys! Depending on where you are, the weather is changing rapidly and it’s been kind of a doozy for riding. In the Pacific Northwest for the last couple weeks you could ride your bike down to meet some friends at a restaurant and it’ll have been sunny and 75° fahrenheit (~23.9° celsius) all day- you’ll walk out an hour and a half later and it’ll be pouring buckets with thunder and lightning! A 60 y/o motorcyclist was struck by lightning this morning around 9:30a on the I5 freeway in Chehalis,… Continue Reading »
